Should i get a ported or sealed subwoofer enclosure?

For one 15″ 4 ohm 05c154 comp Kicker subwoofer. And how much air space does it need? And what amp is recommended and how many watts? What gauge wire? Thanks guys.

16 gauge speaker wire can only push 400 watts rms so it matters how many watts the speaker is. u def. want it in a ported box . usually around 1-2 cubic feet of air is good for a sealed. over 2 cubic feet would be perfect. could google the speaker it will tell ya the specs on that.

What ever you prefer ported or sealed. I personally would go with ported for a 15. If buying online there should be a tab called specifications or some thing like that. Tells you everything. Get a small amp cause the rms is 250 watts. At least 4 gauge you can always go bigger but 4 guage to be on the safe side.

LOL @ some of these answers… 16 gauge can only “push” 400 watts? Speaker wires dont “push” power technically and how much power they can work for depends a LOT MORE on just gauge size….. get it right newb…..

The sub can handle 250 watts RMS. So look for an amp that makes 250 watts RMS x 1 @ 4 ohms. 8 gauge power/ground wire will be plenty for such an amp, and 16 gauge speaker wire is plenty.

Use a ported box for maximum output. Sealed if space is a concern. Just make sure the box is built to the right specs! Kicker says 3-4 cubic ft. for ported.
