Run your desktop computer off battery power directly without an inverter?

I am sure its possible.

you cant.

the power type is completely different.
power from the wall is AC (alternating current) and battery is DC (direct current)

To run desktop PC continuously, you would need a hefty car battery and a very meaty inverter to convert 12 volt DC to your mains AC voltage at the necessary wattage.
